During the month of August every year, lovers of running can enjoy a new edition of the 12K of Alvear, organized by the Directorate of Sport, Physical Activity and Recreation of the Municipality of the same department.
This already traditional athletic competition consists of recreational jogging and healthy walks classified into categories according to different ages, ranging from 18 to 65 years. In recent editions, more than 300 pedestrians from San Rafael, Mendoza and many other places in the country participated.
Other activities will also be carried out, for those children between 5 and 14 years of age with fun recreational activities and obstacle courses in the departmental plaza organized by the athletics schools and a 1K circuit designed especially for the small athletes.
The athletes will make a circuit combining a bit of route and street with sections that cross farms and the cross. The same starts in the emblematic Cultural Multispace Bodega Pharaoh, after traveling rural roads and centric street 10 to Centennial Street, then Diagonal Pellegrini to Km 0, ending in front of the building of the municipal palace, in the Plaza Carlos Maria de Alvear.
Within the race of the 12 Km of Alvear, there is the possibility of also making a 4K tour of part of the 5 Corners of the Alvear Oeste District.
The organization is always excellent in terms of hydration, signaling and traffic management positions.
Finally, all participating athletes are given a kit consisting of an official T-shirt, a medal finish and a chip system for timing
