The Municipal Aquarium is located in Buenos Aires Ituzaingó corner. It is the only province of municipal public management, operating profit. Opened on May 25, 1945, it contains freshwater and saltwater species, local and exotic water.
Within the species there are animals from the Parana River, Guatemala, Mexico, Sumatra, Australia, India and Amazon. In its various stations coexist variety of fish, reptiles, alligators and a marine tortugo of over 100 years, called Tortugo Jorge, who is in captivity at least 15 years and is the most visited aquarium.
The sector of reptiles is in the terrace, designed to expand travel and double the size of the aquarium. It is accessed through ramps, it has a modern architectural design and has sand, water and pumice, to recreate the natural habitat of the species. The grounds of alligators and reptiles has 50m2, and walls and ceilings are made of glass. It also has an open-pit pond with aquatic plants and fish.
In addition to the terrace, the aquarium has an amphitheater with 100 seats, 36 LEDs with explanatory texts and integrating complex games for children with disabilities. The complex is open to the public 7 days a week, from 9 to 19:30 pm. There are discounts for students, children, seniors, and delegations. For children under 3 years and visits by schools, admission is free.
Has adequate services to facilitate access for the disabled, it has a hydraulic platform and a ramp system allowing free movement in the entire journey. It has an amphitheater, 3 lakes, 36 small LED screens with explanatory texts, a special enclosure that houses the tortugo Jorge and terrace where the grounds of alligators and reptiles are.
