Since 2011 to mid-August the Hotel Inter Continental Mendoza organizes the Argentina Wine Expo: an event that brings together professionals from the wine industry, both oenologists and sommeliers, owners, buyers and specialized press in order tastings of best wines in the Americas.
Robert Parker Jr. and Stephen Tanzer: as a measure of quality wines that have received the best scores in recent years by the two most prestigious wine critics in the world are tasted. Both are experts who have devoted their lives to taste wines from around the globe, so that today are considered the best and most qualified of the wine industry, determining the success and recognition of the wines produced everywhere of the world.
The event is considered “the great gathering of industry high-end wine” and lasts for two days. The first day features clinics, seminars and talks referred to the subject, given by industry specialists as Roberto de la Mota and Pedro Rossel (present in previous editions). The second day has in the center of its program the main Tasting: a blind tasting led by sommeliers in which the best exponents of Argentina are tasted by Robert Parker Jr. and Stephen Tanzer.
In the closure, a deluxe cocktail is made with many drinks and a specially chosen cuisine. The choice of participating wineries is complex, few reaching enough score to participate in the event. Some of the wineries that have been part in previous editions are Atamisque, Terrazas de los Andes, Trapiche, Luigi Bosca, Zuccardi Wines, Vistalba, Kaiken and Casa Bianchi.
