The Cathedrals of Wine program is a tourist and cultural proposal, which has a short existence since it was created in November 2015. It is an agreement between the Ministry of Tourism of Mendoza, Bodegas de Argentina and the College of Architects of Mendoza. It aims to put into focus the winery architecture of the province of Mendoza, which stands out for its design and construction technology, in addition to the landscaping.
The wineries were selected by a group of technicians that took into account the distinctive features of the participating wineries, in order to create the tours. For this program, the establishments open their doors and receive the general public highlighting the architectural and heritage value of the buildings. Of course: Among the proposed activities include tastings and pairings with gourmet cuisine.
Under the agreement, the official objective of the program includes “promote architectural development within the framework of the wine development; preserve the existing architectural heritage; and to promote and publicize the activities in this regard, helping them. ” It exists for this purpose, an official register in which the various wineries who wish to participate in the program can enroll.
Being a very new action, we still lack details about its implementation, but we know that wineries will open on several occasions throughout the year to be visited. In addition, you can learn the history surrounding buildings, references to architects, designers, decorators, sculptors and builders. We look forward to the development of this project, which is emerging as something very interesting.
