Chakana is a modern enterprise that takes up an old family legacy. At the turn of the 19th century, Giovanni Pelizzatti started producing high quality wines in the DOCG Valtellina, Lombardia, in Northern Italy. At present, the descendants of this pioneer have revived this passion on both sides of the Ocean. In Europe, Pelizzatti-Perego Winery Ar.Pe.Pe, and in the Andes foothills of Argentina, Chakana Wines.
Chakana develops the concept of estate wines, making them in the same place where grapes are grown. This complete integration between agricultural and enologic practices, result in wines of superior expression.
Chakana offers the best expression of its unique terroir: Agrelo, at Lujan de Cuyo County, Mendoza.
Chakana Wines are made in a state-of-the-art winery, built in the estate with the purpose of achieving outstanding quality. Its modular building has been designed to follow the productive growth of the vines.
Today, we have 10.000 HL of stainless steel capacity in very small tanks designed to maximize skin contact with must during fermentation. The winemaking process is focused on treating the grapes with great care and on strictly controlling every productive stage.
