Ascent from Challao, passing through Cerro Santo Tomás de Aquino to Cerro El Gateado (11.4 KM)
This exit also begins transiting the Provincial Route N ° 13, beginning in the Municipal District of La Heras, 20 KM from the city of Mendoza. The first section is done in a 4×4 truck, where we take the bikes. Once in the first manolito, the adventure begins. On the way to the next point, we passed the Casa de Piedra post, 2470 meters above sea level. Here the road becomes very interesting with a lot of gravel down, in which a sharp curve opens up to an intersection of 3 gorges to the namesake “Tres Quebradas”. Right there is a little path that goes up to “La Subida de la Mili”, a highly recommended climb of gravel and stone 1km away. It is approximately 15 min with the bike on your shoulder until you reach the “Gateado” cord, then you will find a path, quite marked, with pircas, well signposted, you continue skirting the crawled hill.
After a few minutes pedaling, we have the option to follow and make a summit to the “Gateado” or start the descent that is very well marked and marked. In any case it is advisable to be careful because there are many stones. If it is considered difficult, you should get off the bike, but usually the road is quite fluid, until the “Cruz de Santo Tomás”. Passing this point, we turn to the right, we follow some snails and a stretch with lots of stone, sharp turns, quite complicated. Our suggestion for those who are not accustomed to the mountain is to go straight once we go through the snails and avoid this stretch.
