It is ideal for water sports and to bathe in the warm waters of this reservoir. The roads are flat, with little hills near the lake, all asphalted and with provision of fuel in San Martín, Rivadavia, and Junín, although not in the area of the reservoir.
This journey takes up a day. It is operable throughout the year.
You can start in San Martín by the National Route 7, or from Rivadavia. From the latter city, the routes taken are Provincial 67 and 64 towards the southwest through the diverter dam Tiburcio Benegas, on the river Tunuyán, and then you reach the reservoir El Carrizal. The east margin is the one that has more campgrounds, resorts and services for the tourists. Here the landscape captivates people by the contrast between the blue of the lake and its desert and yellowish margins, or the settled ones with a striking green. Fishing for silverside attracts people from the entire region. The return is made by the same routes.
Other points of origin for this circuit can be the cities of Mendoza and Lujan de Cuyo, accessing the reservoir by the routes National 40 and Provincial 16.
