The Villavicencio Uspallata Night Circuit takes place between Saturday night and early Sunday on the historic Provincial Route 52. The starting point was the historic Hotel Villavicencio (1,750 masl) and the arrival, for the star distance, was the Group of Mountain Artillery 8 (GAM 8) of Uspallata (2,030 masl).
Both in the 55K, as in the 30K and 40K, the athletes had to pass through the emblematic Cruz de Paramillos (3,030 masl), after being attacked by the historic Caracoles de Villavicencio. To get to Paramillos they had to climb for 27K. As you can see, those who made the 10K and 20K only rose: those of 10K reached 2,350 meters above sea level and those of 20K reached 2,700 meters above sea level (approximately).
The terrain was not very complicated since the circuit ran entirely through the Provincial Route 52 that is dirt, although in some areas it became a bit “heavy” for the legs because of the gravel and the athletes had to be somewhat attentive to some stones ” rebels “that caused the occasional stumble.
The proposed circuit was very beautiful since it was incomparable to jog or trek through the precordillera Mendoza under the light of the stars …
It caused ecstasy to advance towards the west with the hills of the zone of witnesses who hid, accomplices, after the darkness of the night …
It was incomparable to feel the aroma of the local flora in the lungs, to hear the singing of some old-fashioned bird or the neighing of a guanaco …
It caused pleasure to feel tingling in the belly because some cougar could have been stalking …
It was wonderful, while advancing through the Caracoles de Villavicencio, to look back and contemplate, to the east, down and far, the lights of the City of Mendoza …
