On the occasion of World Biodiversity Day, the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development with IADIZA Day held a conference attended by leading specialists. They create spaces for debate and action in the province to raise awareness of the importance that biodiversity in society were the main objectives of the meeting. The opening of the conference was given by Alberto Gurruchaga, chief of staff of the Secretariat of Environment and Sustainable Development, who said that the central point is to link biodiversity conservation with the daily life of Mendoza. “There is a widespread perspective of caring and protecting biodiversity in the province, most of the time are related to ethical issues,” he said. He also stressed the importance of awareness in society about the significance of biodiversity: What we are proposing is that the company knows the amount of services that biodiversity provides us. It is very important that the society aware that not only take care of biodiversity for ethical and moral issues but because we take care of this biodiversity is what gives a society a range of environmental services that should be valued and preserved. The lecture on Biodiversity as a vital resource for humanity. In his presentation Cricsi spoke about energy, its generation and depletion by scarcity of resources, which come of biodiversity, since they are products of their accumulation. Another issue highlighted was the relationship of biodiversity in developing countries: developing countries live with 80% of biodiversity since they are there, which argued that we can only conserve biodiversity if we solve the inequality.
