With 10 years of staging, the challenge La Salinita or also known as Barracas, takes place every year in the department of Maipú.
It is a particular challenge because it runs in pairs, transforming it into an experience that demonstrates not only the competitive spirit but also the companionship and teamwork.
The meeting point and exit is the Post “La Salinita”, located in the district of Las Barracas or simply Barracas, east of the Maipucino department, 35 km from the provincial capital. The position is accessed by Acceso Sur (RN40) and Azcuénaga, crossing the bridge up towards the west in the direction of Maipú. The district of Barracas begins in the NE margin of the Mendoza River and this access crosses the whole town, this being the only existing paved road.
The latest editions of this challenge have attracted nearly 300 runners from all over the country as the competition is also part of the national mountain cycling calendar. The landscape and the layout of the route is very technical because the level shown by the bikers is quite demanding. As we said the competition modality is in pairs and may participate in the Mixed Elite categories (the woman must be between 19 and 39 years old), Mixed Master (woman over 40 years old), Father and son A (child over 15 years old) ) and Father and son B (son under 15 years old) and Mixed Promotions. The circuit consists of 18 km, where the most competitive categories will have to travel two laps to the circuit (36 kilometers), while the rest will only rotate once. It should be noted that for the classification the time of the last member of the team crossing the finish line is taken.
