During the month of September occurs every day 27 since 1980, the Tourism Day. It is a date that seeks to inform and sensitize the community on the importance of tourism and its social, cultural and political value. During this time given the anniversary of the adoption of the Statute of the WTO and is desirable because it coincides with the end of the high season in the northern hemisphere and the beginning of this in the southern hemisphere.
In the province of Mendoza a series of activities is also performed in order to promote tourism and honor the workers. The events are free and take place in different parts of the capital city of Mendoza, Independence Square being the epicenter of them. There you can find food stands with regional and international meals, tastings offered by wineries and artistic shows are located.
It’s also carried out at this time of the event “Discover the city with tourist eyes” which has different recreational and cultural activities that residents and tourists can live the province from another perspective and know the history of all landmarks of the province for its great tourist attractions. Among them, we can mention the Divisadero Largo trekking by full moon, circuits led by the municipal cemetery and visits to the Museum Area Foundation, the Mirador Terrace Garden or the Municipal Aquarium.
Boardwalks are also made through the streets of the city where wine tastings and astro-tourism activities are offered in the Municipal terrace. As a closure to the event, the following Sunday a Mega bike ride is made, called “For the Love of air“. Their meeting point is usually street Emilio Civit and Paso de Los Andes and aims to promote physical activity and encourage the use of bicycles as means of transport, in addition to caring for the environment. It ends with an artistic show and raffles among the people attending the event.
