Like other wine areas of the province of Mendoza, the Northern Zone has an annual sensory evaluation conducted during the month of September. This is a technique that seeks to assess tasting technological developments in crops that year. It is organized by the Rural Extension Agency INTA Lavalle together with the Centre for Viticulture Development, Viticultural Fund, the National Institute of Viticulture and the Municipality of Lavalle.
The headquarters is located in the Association of inspections of the Fourth Irrigation Zone of Rio Mendoza, located in Villa Tulumaya, part of the department of Lavalle. cooperatives and wineries in this event is not a competition, but an evaluative meet instance. The wines are previously tasted by a panel of experts from the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences of the National University of Cuyo and other related institutions.
Wineries and cooperatives have 12 samples, of which 6 are selected as the best. Agronomists responsible for production management of the vineyards discuss the techniques used to obtain the wines tasted. During the previous editions it noted that the samples are on the rise in their quality both red and white and have nothing to envy to the embodiments in Uco Valley or south of the province.
The wines of Lavalle already have international projection, for which this type of event is essential as promote dissemination. Sample participating wineries and cooperatives Lavalle, Guaymallén and New California of San Martin: Wineries Quattrocchi, North Mendocino Cooperative, Cooperative Mendoza, Bodega Viñas Argentinas, Tulumaya Cooperative, Cooperative and North Lavallino Mastropietro Winery are some examples.
