Cordon del Plata – High Altitude Vineyards

This tour entails driving around green Valley de Uco, one of Mendoza`s major productive oasis. The soil and microclimate there, with sunny afternoons and cool nights render the best possible conditions for vine growing and Wine making. Valle de Uco landscape is a mix of blues skies, long growers, deserted fields and snow-capped mountains. The districts of Tunuyan, Tupungato and San Carlos make up this efficiently irrigated Wine-making region.
The tour goes along the Production Route on witch visitors will see crops like potatoes, sunflowers, nut trees, almond trees, hazelnut trees and vineyards that grow in this endless valley, at the foot of majestic Cordon del Plata mountain range. We`ll visit Historical Apple Tree where General San Martin rested when he was returning from his liberation campaign in Chile and Peru. Visitors will see the Return to the Homeland monument. The foothill area landscape is a plain offering beautiful views of perennial snow-capped peaks, just like any other Mendoza oasis.
We´ll then head west to reach Valle de Uco, more precisely, the Tupungato urban area. Having lunch in an estancia or rural restaurant there is a one of a kind experience and the Best Wine. In the afternoon, the tours continues toward La Carrera region, at the foot of Cordon del Plata range, 2000 (m.a.s.l) cereals are grown and cattle is raissed there. It features many streams and springs where condors are often seen. On Los caracoles road that leads to Las Vegas mountain Village, we´ll get to impressive Potrerillos dam (finished in 2001) to then start our trip back to the city of Mendoza.
