The Baterflai Festival takes place a few years ago in the city of Mendoza, during the month of March. This is an event directly related to the militancy of the LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer) community and seeks to revalue gender identity and fostering respect between all people. It also seeks to make visible the history of violence and marginalization that have historically lived communities that support the freedom of civil identity and sexual orientation.
Within the festival program will include talks and lectures on health, beauty and medicine, discussions on gender issues and the exhibition of movies and miniseries also referred to the issue. Moreover, these activities are supplemented by musical performances. At the festival there is also room for theater, photography andthe painting.
They also have parades instead of emerging designers and collections, and project documentaries and genre films. One option might be to visit marathons boleros recitals and poetry readings. The talks on sexual education and tributes to different personalities to the story are also held throughout the festival, which doubled its durability within two years because of the large turnout.
It is a space that arises as a place and a way of expression of LGBTQ activism, and intends to contribute to the debate and artistically visible gender issues in order to build a more inclusive look. It also seeks to raise awareness and inform about important and complex issues such as sex education in young people.
