High Mountain Festival is held every year in the town of Uspallata, Department of Las Heras, in late January and early February. It is a party with a long tradition in the province, which already has more than 23 edits. The headquarters is the Municipal Camping Uspallata, where the election of departmental Harvest Queen, who then compete against other sovereign possible in the National Harvest Festival is also performed.
The activities are divided into day and night, and during the day you can attend rodeos, horse riding, carreras cuadreras, guided tours and walks with typical regional food stands. Overnight they occur musicals, folk and dance shows. Ballets and different regional and various provinces across the country bands are presented. It is also giving rise to different shows of tango and humor.
Uspallata is a village in a longitudinal pocket, in the valley of the same name. It is located northwest of the city of Mendoza and close to the Cerro Aconcagua. The vegetation and the presence of mountains give you a stunning landscape, ideal for mountain activities by its proximity to the Andes and the border crossing to Chile.
This fame propelled the creation of the party named in the mountains, where many visitors come during the months of heat passing through the area on their way to meet the Penitentes, the Puente del Inca, Aconcagua or the nearby ski resorts. During the party the election and coronation of the Queen of High Mountain is made.
