The Ice Climbing Festival is held every year in Vallecitos, Mendoza, during the month of August. Its alternative name is Festival de Escalada en Hielo, and is the only of its kind in the country. The event takes place since 2008 in the former ski resort Vallecitos, and every day brings more adept at this center remains unused for several years.
The whole event is organized by the Brazilian Humberto Junior Chamber, based in Argentina, who arrived in the country seeking professional in the profession of mountain guide. Chamber organizes expeditions to the central Andes and other mountain ranges in the world. The categories of the competition are male, female, and Elite Amateur, and vary in price and difficulty. Registration takes place the day of the event, and for those without climbing experience workshops are held in ice climbing is complete with all the necessary equipment and an explanatory class.
