Sweet Potato Festival is held every year in the city of Guaymallén, Gran Mendoza, during the month of February. It takes place along with the Departmental Harvest Festival, where the candidate is chosen to be queen department representative during the celebration of the National Harvest Festival in March. The festivities sweetpotato already have more than a decade of life.
Admission to the event is free, and the greater scenario spend many artists of national stature. They also have performances by local and regional artists. During the preceding days the grid of musicians choosing departmental Harvest Queen in, after the blessing of the fruits show “Memory of Time” is highlighted.
The sweet potato is one of the main vegetables grown in the area of Colonia Molina, Guaymallén department, so the festival takes its name. It is organized by the San Cayetano Community Association with the support of the Municipality of Guaymallén. Among the prominent personalities who have passed through the stage are Mercedes Sosa, Luciano Pereyra and Soledad Pastorutti Palavecino Chaco.
