The Feast of the Assumption is held annually during the third week of August in the town of Asuncion, Department of Lavalle. It is a religious holiday, in an old huarpe lavallino desert community. The most important point of the celebration is a colonial chapel, made of adobe, which was the eighteenth century, where the procession begins in honor of Our Lady of the Assumption Transit.
The party includes craft shows in the homes of the villagers, who in recent years opened its doors to tourists and visitors, and offer both handicrafts in leather and wool as local and regional cuisine. Spaces that function as camps and traditional songs and dances are also available.
Visitors can also tour the village religious sites, cemeteries, the museum and the chapel over 150 years old. Every year, moreover, the gaucho pilgrimage that starts from the city head of the department carrying an image of the Virgen del Transito, center of the festivities take place.
Artistic events are not side: folklore shows are performed in addition to the traditional still life in the homes of residents and Creole skills. Careers are also performed, and the event attended by leading authorities as the governor of the province. The village of La Asuncion is located 80 kilometers from the city of Mendoza and can reach the site through the National Route No 142, connecting to the height of 45 km.
