The World Nations Fair takes place in the city of Mendoza, in late November. It is located in Independence Square, in the heart of the city, and has the presence of different representative communities of many countries. This is a tribute to the immigrants who helped shape our country and managed to turn the desert Cuyo region was an oasis.
The event offers a wide variety of artistic performances from different communities, including Chilean cuecas, mariachis, carnavalitos, Latin American music, Bolivian dances, Italian opera choirs, orchestras and ballet Catalan winds, for example. Artistic shows take place every day during the weekend of the fair for three full days.
Artistic events are held usually overnight. The other main attraction and the axis of the festival is the exhibition of food stands representative of each community. People walk and try typical food from all over the world, while enjoying the events. Thousands of people visit the festival every year to taste the local food and learn a little more about the different communities.
Some of the countries that usually attend the event are Italy, Colombia, Syria, Brazil, Ecuador, Bolivia, Germany, Switzerland, Poland, Syria, Chile, Croatia, Mexico and Peru, among others. Each year, countries are added to the grid, and this is an important form of cultural and tourist promotion of the city, at a time of year that is already beginning to breathe the summer heat.
