The Marjoram Festival is held every year in Pareditas, from the department of San Carlos, province of Mendoza, in the middle of January. The event features more than 23 edits, and is organized by the Cultural Association Pareditas as a way of valuing the Mendoza localities easily fall into oblivion and thus also prevent the loss of identity of these small communities.
Pareditas is the southern border of the Uco Valley and has many attractions, besides being a very quiet and very traditional people. The main activities of this festival are the performances of music and dance with local and regional artists. Stands are also installed around the Plaza de Pareditas for tasting and buying local products.
Another activity that takes place is the OréganoTour, consisting of horseback riding, bicycles sulqui and production of aromatic artisanal farm, the barn work, tasting varieties and a glass of wine in a traditional bar. The journey takes about two hours and ends near the night in the town square.
Musical performances are also held at the Sports Pareditas during all hours, and duathlon that starts from the district square. It comes complete with entertainment motocross championships Creole skills and bocce. You can not miss, of course, the presentation of dishes with oregano, the main attraction of this festival.
As a finishing touch, during the last days the election and coronation of the new queen of Oregano occurs, besides the presentation of departmental candidates for the title of Queen of the Harvest, which takes place later in the same month.
