The National Harvest Festival is held every year in the city of Mendoza, during the first days of March. This is one of the most important celebrations of the country, including festivities in the 18 departments that make up the province of Mendoza, whose calendar covers events from November, December, January and February, culminating with The actual party in March with imposing Central Act.
The main event takes place on a large stage set up in the Frank Romero Day Greek Theater in the General San Martin Park, and is the largest celebration of this holiday. Artistic performances of music, song and dance, and actors and local and national dancers perform moving around the stage. Then it takes place the election of the National Queen of the Harvest, which each year invites young people from different departments. Each chooses its representative, who then competes for the title of National Reina. At the end of the evening, the celebration with a large fireworks display closes.
Besides holding in Mendoza, all departments have their celebrations in the calendar vendimial which include creole skills, traditional food and tributes to wine production. Vintage calendar has celebrations as the Water Festival, the Harvest Festival, the Festival of Song and MELESCA and even different vintages in the different departments.
As for the Central Harvest Celebration, Blessing of the fruit, where the fruits of the annual harvest is done thank. There the Governor of the Province of Mendoza meets an old ritual called the “Strike the plow.” Another highlight is the Via Blanca, a parade of floats and ornate carriages where each department presents its candidate queen, who flatters from the carriage fruits, water and wine to the public.
The vintage carousel where the parade is repeated but with the addition of groups of gauchos, horses and carts were then performed. They also participate in the various communities resident Mendoza. Throughout the month many events in addition to the core, such as the Grape Stomp, where the queen candidates perform the ritual of symbolic patero tread to produce wine in an evening of music and dance are performed.
