The Department of Tunuyán is located in the central western portion of the Mendoza province, 82 kilometres from the Capital City. It is also part of the Uco Valley, along with the Departments of San Carlos and Tupungato.
Its territory varying from 875 to 1500 metres above the sea level, has a mild climate, cool but with large temperature variations in the plain, and in the Cordillera it is cold and with more stringent conditions.
Its main river is the Tunuyán and there are also the Guiñazú and Grande streams.
Its economy is based on the production of apples and grapes.
Its fauna is represented by horses, guanacos, large numbers of birds and condors.
The native flora stretches along the banks of the many courses of crystalline waters that flow down from the mountains.
