The owner of the Bodega Familia Zuccardi, and recent winner of the World Tourism Award Best OF Great Wine Capitals wine in Porto met with Day to Day Wine and tells us his views on the wine business and investment in wine.
– How did you receive the news of the prize won in Porto – This is an interesting topic because the Best Of contest is a great opportunity to link the region. For us being recognized is very important. We have been working since 2001 in wine tourism and a truly comprehensive offer, from many aspects, with programs like vení to harvest where people can participate directly in the vineyard; as with winery tours, tastings, art exhibitions, to have wine as a binding element in the culture of the region. Recognition has been valuable because we feel that we are working in the right direction. – Do you consider the wine a profitable business – I think it’s an activity that has to be analyzed in isolation but in the context of the overall activity: wine. I think it’s a very profitable business, not only from the point of view of wine but of society as a whole. Wine tourism generates a link in visitors to the region that not only consuming our products when they visit but can consume the products when they are in their places of origin. This is very important and, in some way, affection generated when a tourist visits us is very crucial when it comes to what to eat when you return to your country. Often for the winery, wine tourism is an investment because activities that have a high cost with perhaps not as great immediate benefit but you have to think globally from brand building company in the region and the country is facing. – How does the union with wines arises Joan Manuel Serrat – With Joan Manuel Serrat we share a great friendship and shared a philosophy on how to make wines and important life. This was a goal of Family Zuccardi start distributing some wines that were in Argentina. – Do they have in other folder distribution list – This is the beginning of an activity, the Argentine consumer is growing and growing interest in taste wines from other regions or styles. We have defined what other wines will distribute. I have a team working on this, but we are very happy with this home through the wine cellar More Perinet.
