On an area of over 4,000 square meters, the National Technological University projected an intelligent building that serves as a model for research and technological development. This idea is getting closer, after last Tuesday the Legislature approved the transfer fee of the land that is located in Belgrano and Lamadrid, Fifth Section, where now the official garage. The initiative to have a new space, which emerged within the house of studies and presented by Deputy Amalia Monserrat, states that the National Technological University will take office within one year from the enactment of the law. “This is because the provincial executive must find a place to run the official garage,” said the author of the project. In the grounds indicated that future building, to be located east of School Chemical Argentinos, work research groups, teachers and students involved in regional technology programs. Evaluation activities, research, development and innovation related to the various specialties of engineering (civil, electrical engineering, electronics, information systems and chemical) will be conducted. Eduardo Balasch, dean of the regional UTN Mendoza, said the same building “must be a nationally and internationally to show how it can be constructed with materials in a sustainable manner from the point of environmental and energy-referent. Adding that this construction should be noted by its technology in its construction as in performance “progress. He stressed that to achieve these objectives, it is necessary “to involve all the technology community as a challenge to set priorities for research and innovation areas in our region.” And he said: “Our young students, with their teachers and researchers should put all their energy, knowledge and innovative spirit to develop this future growth we are designing.” He stressed that the availability of such project will allow them to achieve provincial and national sources of funding. In the late 90s, the district capital has restricted the occupation of new land in this sector of the Fifth Section, known as educational zone (Luzuriaga-Belgrano-Martínez de Rozas and Martin Zapata). The purpose of the Municipality was to settle disputes with neighbors over traffic congestion and parking in the street sector. There, in addition to the UTN, there are three high schools, the Magisterium of the UNCuyo, a primary school and two parochial schools. Because of this, the UTN must devote much of their land to parking lot. Just in that place was the intelligent building projected initially. Source: Diario Los Andes
