Due to bad weather and heavy snowfall closed the season of Laguna del Diamante. The entrance was kept open from January 4 and according to the Ministry of Environment is estimated that more than 7000 people visited the reserve amount which far exceeded the previous season. The Water Reserve and Landscape Laguna del Diamante protects an important section of the main ridge, the Front Range and the foothills of the latter, in the Central Andes, comprising at my 5323 Maipo volcano lagoon itself, at 3300 meters high . This lagoon is one of the main reservoirs of fresh water in the province, is fed by meltwater and is the headwaters of the Diamante River. The expansion area includes the watersheds of the Yaucha, Parrot streams and Rosario and the area of Pinto Peak. By its unique characteristics, year after year hundreds of people choose this book for recreational activities such as sport fishing with artificial bait, trekking, climbing, watching guanacos, among others. There is currently a proposal to include the Laguna del Diamante in the list of wetlands of international importance because of Ramsar environmental services provided by this natural environment to society.
