Laguna del Atuel is located in the district of San Rafael The Sonseado. It is accessed via Route No. 144, then taking Route No. 220 from the district center. In the area of the lagoon is the reserve of Natural Resources and Water Reserve, which was created in 2012 and covers about 70 hectares. Laguna del Atuel is the source of the River Atuel, and provides water to much of southern oasis, besides the hydroelectric complex Nihuiles.
A little steps away is the overo Volcano, another major attraction of the area that many climbers looking to scale. It has a height of 4600 meters, which makes it a good match for height lovers. At present the volcano has a flattened shape and has patches of snow on its slopes.
Atuel Niagara are located in the headwaters of the Rio Atuel, but are accessed riding. Frequently they made expeditions through the mountain and rock ledges to get to the falls. When you arrive, drop water forming cataracts observed. Furthermore you can watch birds, condors, pumas and guanacos.
There are also wells and thermal pools, which can be a good option for a dip and take off the chill off. The land where the jumps are located has an area of 330 hectares, and is not well known by travelers in general. However, the falls have great natural interest because they are the only of its kind in the country, and there have been attempts to turn the area into a nature reserve.
