Symbol of a long vitivicultural tradition that dates back to the XIXth century, this winery was born from the pasion and vision of Gilberto Lavaque, who in 1930, continued the path initiated by his grandfather Don Jose Lavaque in Cafayate Valley, Salta in 1870,and took his know-how and family winemaking tradition to the premier grape growing region of San Rafael, in the province of Mendoza.
Surrounded by its vineyards of Cañada Seca, Barrancas del Atuel, and Finca Santa Luisa, Bodegas Lavaque stands out for its testimonies of the past and wine-making tradition combined with highly equipped areas with state of the art technology.
The winery totals 415 hectares of own vineyards and in charged or nearby growers who receive a close agricultural supervision of the winery through highly qualified professionals. The cultivated varieties are Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Pinot Noir, Syrah, Merlot, Chardonnay.
Vineyards orientation:From North to South to recieve the sun from the East in the morning and the sun from the West in the afternoon. Soil: Alluvial type. Diamante and Atuel rivers irrigate the sandy, deep and permeable soil, low in organic matter and nitrogen.
