The publication of a study on the cities with the best quality of life and a ranking of the best places in the world to visit, should be well exploited by the Province to expand the tourism potential. Mendoza is located on the 14th place in the ranking, beating Cordoba and Rosario. But we still have a lot.
The excellent score obtained by Mendoza, in a ranking of quality of life developed by researchers in geography and demography of CONICET and six national public universities and the publication of the magazine National Geographic Travel, placing our province in the top ten places to visit , for good food, wine, the level of hospitality and natural beauty, should be exploited to enhance the tourism possibilities for the forthcoming summer season. As indicated, the ranking was developed based on statistics published and unpublished national 2001 census INDEC and was featured in the book Geography and welfare and disseminated at a conference of migration for environmental changes in the United Nations University in Bonn, Germany. They were taken as indicators data on infant mortality, access to health coverage and level of education, housing conditions and included an index of disasters. The capital city of Mendoza contained in fourteenth place, much better placed than cities like Cordoba and Rosario. First Punta Alta appears, followed by Monte Hermoso, Piedra Buena, Santa Cruz and Rio Grande in Tierra del Fuego. Buenos Aires and Olivos is then located in the northern part of Buenos Aires. Among the five worst places located General Mosconi (Formosa) and Rinconada Valle Grande (Jujuy), Laguna Yema (Formosa) and Santa Catalina were located in Jujuy. Beyond the discussions may come to pose for the variables taken for investigation, as may be the fact that you take as an individual to Olivos village and is part of a whole in the suburbs; Punta Alta had to be taken as part of Bahía Blanca or that some cities are simply tourist, the fact is that the study and its wide dissemination should take advantage of the province and include it within the possibilities offered Mendoza to attract tourism adding it to the mountains and vineyards. In this context, the chances of Mendoza are enhanced with the publication of National Geographic, which places Mendoza in this case at provincial level to the level of the historic center of Ghent, Belgium; the historical capital of Provence, France; from Historic Potsdam, Germany or the old town of Stockholm, Sweden. That ranking was conducted by 280 experts who studied and traveled 110 sites worldwide and Mendoza won the tenth. They were shocked, they say, by landscapes, food, accommodations, wineries and wine, as well as the ecological and social and cultural integrity. Should be considered in this regard that the growth of tourism in the province has been dramatic in recent years. Not in vain endeavors and invest heavily in that area are appreciated, but the fact remains that there are still things to do and duties to perform. And one of them is the issue of insecurity. As indicated, at least one tourist per day suffer theft or robbery. So says a record Unit Police Tourist Assistance, which received two and half months more than 100 complaints, within which the vast majority are thefts. With some serious events, such as aggression received by two Canadians, on the central Plaza Independencia, prompting one of them should remain hospitalized for several days. The proximity of the date of the summer period and vacation, requires that relevant authorities grapple with the treatment of the subject and agree actions with all stakeholders in the activity. There are ideal conditions to promote tourism; is being made convenient developments in the country and abroad (one headed by the governor in Brazil) and only remaining detail to make Mendoza continues to grow in the grid-making, when someone starts to study the place to spend your days off.
