The Mistral Rock is a music festival that takes place in the city of Godoy Cruz, in early March. The initiative aims to promote and disseminate the local rock, so the grid band is composed entirely of Mendoza bands. The name refers to Gabriela Mistral Municipal Theater, venue. The final date of the festival is not yet fully consolidated since it has made few edits.
The conference is composed of rock bands throughout the province, but also have DJs who played music throughout the event, held in the O’Higgins Park Godoy Cruz. Despite what its name suggests, cumbia, ska, Latin rock, distortion, rockabilly and fusion bands not 100% fall into the category of rock is also mixed.
Admission to the event is free, thanks to this event and the Gabriela Mistral Theatre has managed to re-position itself as the “cradle of Mendoza rock”. To complement, the festival takes place in the framework of the Harvest Festival, when Great Mendoza is full of visitors, color and music. It is planned as an event that grows every year, and could eventually become one of the major music festivals of Mendoza.
Gabriela Mistral The theater is named in tribute to the winner of the Nobel Prize Chilean writer who was one of the most important in the history of world literature and women. It opened in 1957 with a capacity of 2,000 people seated and is located in a very central and green like the O’Higgins park. It is a theater ideal for this type of outdoor events.
