In Mendoza, the autumn brings an excellent climate and the clear sky. Unlike very hot summers and very cold winters, the autumn is the ideal time to visit a large number of interesting places, where the ochre and yellow colours of the trees give a special touch to the landscape.
This is an excellent excuse to travel through the typical groves, visit some wineries and taste the wines and the cuisine of the place, or to admire the Protected Areas or Provincial Parks, of which Mendoza is completely proud.
The most recommended places are in the northern of the province, the dunes of the Altos Limpios, where it seems that time stands still, or the Telteca Forest. Towards the west of the City, Divisadero Largo Natural Reservation, a geological fault, which allows us to take a glimpse of the heart of the planet. To the south, there is the Llancanelo Lake, in the middle of the desert, with an invaluable reservation with pink flamingos and black-necked swans. To the east, Ñacuñan Reservation, which is aimed at restoring the carob forest, once destroyed by an indiscriminate logging until 1937.
For sports lovers, there are several rivers such as Mendoza, the Atuel, Diamante and reservoirs as the Vall Grande, Nihuil, Carrizal, Potrerillos, Los Reyunos, Agua del Toro, where they can practise canoeing, rafting, fishing, and sailing, especially in catamarans. On the other hand, there is an enormous amount of places in the mountains, to go horseback riding, trekking, or to go on off road trucks trips.
As for shopping, there are options for every taste, whether in good shopping malls or craft markets. Despit from that there are active theatres, art exhibitions, concerts of all kinds of musical genres and science and technology fairs.
