The Natural Reserve of the Andean Condor is located 35 km from the city of Tupungato. It has a total area of 25,000 hectares and its main objective is the preservation of an area of mountain valleys that are home to the Andean condor (Vultur gryphus). It was created in 1993, and since then is open to visitors.
The reserve is located on the lands of the known Estancia Las Aguaditas in the valley of the race, where ecotourism is promoted. Just 3 km away it is located the refuge Quebrada del Condor, where visitors stay. Since there is common horseback riding and photographic safaris in the area, for watching condors.
A stay is reached through Provincial Route No. 89, coming from Potrerillos, but can also be accessed through the Provincial Route 86 and 92 and National Routes 7 and 40. The Quebrada del Condor is located at 2500 mts. tall and is located at the foot of the Cordon del Plata. The preferred season to visit is summer as in winter the weather is too inhospitable.
The main activities carried out throughout the area are: local wildlife watching, observing the local flora, panoramic viewpoints observations through, photographic safaris, exploratory rides around the area, hiking and mountain biking.
