More than 1,700 participants including producers, farmers, members of indigenous peoples, members of social organizations and technicians of national, provincial and municipal institutions across the country gathered on 18 and 19 August in Catamarca to star in the Third National Fair Native seed and Creole. They shared the conviction regain and maintain wealth of food and agricultural biodiversity, recognizing their rights to land, territory, water and natural resources. The aim is to sensitize the nation about the importance of the seed and biodiversity, to build a new model of agriculture and rural development. With the motto Pachamama, seeds with your feed our people and you defend the sovereignty of the territories, many participants shared seeds, knowledge, experience; and reflected on the ways of using the seeds in models of agribusiness and family farming. They also discussed the policies needed to protect and promote. Discussion talks, showing films and documentaries, and traditional fair seed exchange and sale of products from family farms were performed. It was a meeting of the diversity of seeds, food, crafts, local knowledge, appropriate technologies, affections and passions, cultures, identities, landscapes, memories and stories about past, present and future . And a fundamental principle, peasants, small farmers and indigenous people were known and recognized as the children of the earth as food makers. Mendoza attended the meeting with 60 members of the delegation from the province, who shared the work of the land through its seeds, which are silent with respect and care; convinced also continue to participate in the upcoming fairs harder and proposals.
