Bodegas Goyenechea announced the start of an important work at its facilities in San Rafael, with the construction of a tasting room for local and foreign tourists, who may terminate their wine experience in the south of the province. Goyenechea Alberto, one of the owners of the company, corresponding to the fourth generation in the business, said the idea is to attract tourists to the south of the province. The downside is that our warehouse is very far, but we are arranging with a plan to build tourism travel different wineries south.
The Tasting Room will open at the end of September this year, so that visitors can appreciate the wines of the south. This project involved an investment of US $ 100,000 and already have advanced 80% of the work. The room is adjacent to the winery, and would be the end of the route through the vineyards and facilities. The view is incomparable, since the room is surrounded by local trees: bananas, poplars and havens; with a stone hijuela where permanent water circulates. It has two parts: the first one is a bar style bar for visitors to taste the local wines. Furthermore delicatessen be offered; and in a second instance will have a Restaurants, refurbishing a dining room with old barrels from the cellar.
The second sector will provide merchandising products Goyenechea. A little history Goyenechea was founded in 1868 by Santiago and Narciso brothers, Spanish immigrants who started their business with stores of wines and spirits in Buenos Aires, after acquiring the vineyards and winery Villa Atuel, San Rafael, Mendoza, Argentina. The name, of Basque origin, means “the house above”. The wine is preferably initially marketed in barrels or casks, loaded by rail from the hold. The distribution covered the entire country. The third generation of the family -españoles- then directed the company through much of the first half of the century. The bottled wine is becoming recognized brands such as “Marques del Nevado”, “Basque” and “Homeland.” By 1965 the company entered the fourth generation and activity -Argentina- moves exclusively to the fine wine bottled. In 1993 he founded and serves on the first Board of Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée (San Rafael) of Argentina and is the first American winery that exports a DOC wine: Chardonnay that year. A year later, the relationship to the Angus association ends, the exclusive marketing of the brand “Goyenechea” in the Argentine and international market begins.
Finally, in 1998 he joined the fifth generation and transformed the Company in SA Today the fifth generation Goyenechea retains ownership and management of the firm, as well as becoming one of the oldest wineries in the country.
