Ultra Trail Cerro Arco is an international Trail Running competition that awards ITRA points. This emblematic and distinguished competition runs inside the foothills of the Cordón del Gateado, its main exponent and geographical icon being Cerro Arco, a beautiful viewpoint at 1600 meters high.
The objective of this competition, apart from offering a great sporting spectacle, is to leave the mark that characterizes the brand, such as the human values of solidarity and teamwork and the commitment to the environment.
It is an individual race where participants can enroll in three categories of
50K, 30K and 14K during which they will travel mountain roads, trails, dry rivers and ascent to several peaks: Cerro Arco, Gateado, Santo Tomás, among others. The base of departure of all the circuits is the Villa Marista in the Challao (Las Heras) being the Cerro Arco its highest point. Although all the circuits have the same starting point and return, each of them has different difficulties, landscapes and technical requirements for their development and execution. For this reason, those who wish to register must take into account several factors during their preparation to face this challenge without problems. The athletes will be evaluated by a medical committee who will decide if each participant is optimal to travel the desired distance.
The climb to the Cerro Arco is by the edges of the surrounding hills. The 50 km route has a positive slope of 3200 and besides the Cerro Arco peak, it will have the peaks of Cerro Santo Tomás, Cerro Gateado, the foothills of Cerro Vizcacha, Quebrada del Manzano and the extremely hard Tres Quebradas.
The 30 kilometers will be identical in its first stage, but without reaching the Manzano Creek and the 15 kilometers will go up the Arc only.
As in any race at this level, each course has checkpoints, supply and hydration, emergency roads in case of need to rescue and evacuate runners. An extremely complex organization and prepared to match the circumstances.
Finally, for the experience to be complete, there will be spaces for children’s games, food trucks, food stalls and a family setting so that running is not only a fact of the runner but also an experience to share. in family.
