The sector was one of the greatest creators of jobs in 2006 according to estimates by a study conducted by the Ministry of Tourism of the Nation, the branches-that features say tourism, transportation, food, lodging and travel-agencies registered an annual average of 956,546 employees. This number amounts to 9,874,401 when considering the activities that are not purely tourism, but are linked with industry. From the data collected and analyzed by the National Tourism Development SECTUR shows that almost 9.7% of the total employed population in Argentina is related in some way to tourism. The report also compared these figures with the last two years, reaching the conclusion that accompanied tourism job growth in our country, as in the 2004-2005 period, the characteristics of the sector branches increased by 2.96 % the number of persons employed. In that same period, the branches not characteristic obtained an increase of 1.8%. For better, in 2005-2006, the first rose 5.32%, while the latter achieved a 4.47% .Another fact to keep in mind is the dominance of the male workforce, motivated by cultural aspects that keep women from certain tasks, such as in the area of transportation, where employees are almost all men. The study was presented by the Deputy Minister of Tourism of the Nation, Daniel Aguilera, national director of Tourism Development, Valeria Pellizza, and member of the research area of the Tourism Satellite Account, Miguel Oliva. Employment is a major variable in the analysis of productive activities. The sector is known for its ability to distributive income and interference in the generation of genuine work in the most remote parts of the territory ended Aguilera.
