Visits to the City Cemetery meet the history, legends and ancient architecture of Mendoza. They are open to the general public, and during the trip crypts, tombs and mausoleums that keep the remains of famous people of Mendoza’s story visit. Both day and night tours are offered.
Each output has a different theme, but as points of interest are the places where the remains of Mendoza important characters: the Lencinas, Adolfo Calle Jose Ortiz, Lorenzo Barcala and Tiburcio Benegas family. Access to the graveyard is through the main entrance located at 1100 Avenida San Martin de Las Heras. During an evening out it is requested to carry a torch, and so they can enter the under 15 years the presence of a greater need.
Cemetery Mendoza is divided into Ancient, Old and New, the oldest part of the property being north. It was created in 1828 and opened in 1846. Recall that about 1800, buried the dead in churches. But since 1920, with the creation of public cemeteries and lay, he was freed churches of so much responsibility.
The Municipality of Mendoza was established only in 1861, and despite the location of the cemetery in the town of Las Heras, Mendoza still depends on capital.
