Catherine Pere- Verge, is the owner of Monteviejo and member of the adventure Argentina, Clos de los Siete , a project belongs to seven French winemakers whose total area is 850 hectares , of which 121 belongs to Monteviejo, but only 107 hectares have been grown to date. The vines are implemented using a system of driving high trellis. The selected clones are of French origin of low production and high quality, and in the case of old malbec vines native selections were chosen with excellent adaptability to the soil as there is anywhere in the world. Among the varieties we can find implanted Malbec, Argentina emblematic cloudscape , Merlot , Cabernet Sauvignon , Syrah and Chardonnay.
The winery building began in early 2001, under the premise of harmonizing and integrating the building to the natural landscape , without interrupting or limiting the breathtaking view of the Andes Cord . The first harvest took place in 2002.
The plans were designed to allow the wine by gravity , avoiding the use of pumps. The winery is scheduled to operate a capacity of 1,500,000 bottles. The property is maintained at a constant temperature and a hydrometer, optimal conditions to ensure the success of malolactic fermentation, which gives all its richness to the wine. Monteviejo has thousand French barrels , which are disposed on the third use.
